How to properly maintain your makeup brushes?

Posted By: Camille Debascher

Many of you don't wash your brushes regularly, yet your brushes accumulate dust, dirt and bacteria. Using a dirty brush can cause your skin pores to clog, irritating your face and creating pimples. So to keep a pretty complexion and regain its initial softness, remember to wash them regularly.

Here are the steps to follow to properly clean your makeup brushes:

Start by dipping the brush head in water, then applying a small amount of soap (or mild shampoo) to the palm of your hand.

Rub the brush in your hand in small circular motions very gently and rinse thoroughly.

Repeat the operation until the brush is bleeding clear water, there should be no makeup left on it.

Wring out as much as possible with your fingers, avoiding pulling too much on the bristles.

Spread a small terry towel or a thick layer of paper towels on a flat surface and arrange your brushes next to each other.

Warning: Do not use water that is too hot and do not soak brushes in water. Remember not to dry them upside down.

Now you know how to get rid of germs and bacteria that collect on your makeup brushes. Consider cleaning them at least once a week if you use them daily.
